COMPRESSION SECONDARY SEAL SYSTEM

The TST seal plates are a minimum of 16 ga. Thickness.  The seal design is a compression type of seal system which puts a force against the tank shell a minimum of 20# to a maximum of 40#.  To quote the A.P.I. Recommended Practice 2003 “a tight seal is a good seal.”

The TST seal plates are connected together at the lap joins with slotted holes which allows the seal system to flex to it’s minimum and maximum, and further if necessary, at local tank shell deviations.  By having the seal plates joined together along with the compression exerted on the tank shell we have created a “HELICAL SPRING TYPE COIL” which also reacts to help center the floating roof.  The joining of the seal plates is a safety and design feature which lets the seal system perform in a tank that may have local deviations outside the A.P.I 650 Code Recommendations of +/-4”>

The TST Seal System shall perform without failure regardless of product being stored due to the unique “ALL-METAL” vapor barrier.  The TST seal system is a gasketed and bolted at the seal plate lap joints which does not require expensive and short life vapor barrier fabric.

The TST seal tip is a Nitrile/PVC Specially Compounded material to resist 100% Aromatics and has excellent abrasion resistance.  The seal tip is continuous by use of Stainless Steel splice plates.
